‘Fleeting’ and ‘serenity’ are two words that seem at odds next to each other. One fast, one slow. This year I’m trying to cut the word ‘busy’ out of my vocabulary. How do you find quiet in your busy, loud lives? Because let’s be honest, ‘busy’ is easier than slowing down.
This scene captures a moment of fleeting stillness, serenity, beauty as the sunset quickly over the trees. I saw this scene on a drive home from Cape Breton Island, on long stretches of road without street lights.
Growing up in the city, the lights never turned off. In the back country roads with only the setting sun to light the way, we had to drive home quickly, but in that quickness, the setting sun painted a beautiful image to remember.
